June Gazette 2012
May 29, 2012
For many years, St. Luke in the Fields has participated in LGBT Pride Month in New York City and through programs on the block. In this Gazette, we explore our opportunities to celebrate and learn, as well as to reflect on the meaning of pride – once most commonly thought of as a sin – for each of us. What does it mean for us to be proud of our community of faith? Perhaps it is to understand our history and our current mission with strength and purpose. Is the modern day definition of pride more about self-understanding and less about superiority?
As we approach these summer months, we encourage you to reflect on who you are in this community and how you would like to deepen your own pride faithfully.
Be sure to check out our new monthly photo spread on pages 6-9, which features images from recent happenings at St. Luke’s. If you would like to submit your pictures for inclusion in future issues of the Gazette, email them to dhobeika@stlukeinthefields.org with the event name and date.
Peace,
The Rev. Mary Foulke
